I've played quite a few .io racing games before, so when I opened GoKarts.io, I didn't have high expectations. But in less than a minute, I realized this wasn't a game for "racing for fun." Just as I was getting used to the steering, a missile flew out of nowhere and knocked me off the map, while I was still looking at the map. That's when I realized: this game isn't about finishing first, but about surviving and taking down as many opponents as possible.
GoKarts.io was released in May 2025, developed by LegionGames, and is completely browser-based, free, and requires no installation. It sounds similar to hundreds of other .io games, but the way it forces you to calculate every second is what kept me playing several matches non-stop.
In a match, you control a kart in a closed arena with many other real players. Each match lasts a maximum of 4 minutes, and the winner is the one with the highest score, determined by the number of opponents eliminated, not by finishing rank.
There are a few points that make GoKarts.io different from the rest:
I recently tried BikeBrainrots.io and Slope Rider because I saw them often mentioned together with GoKarts.io. But actually, all three are quite different in nature; just because they have the word "racing" in them doesn't mean they're the same.
| Criteria | GoKarts.io | BikeBrainrots.io | Slope Rider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genre | Multiplayer Combat Racing | Multiplayer Obstacle Course Racing | Single-player Survival Skiing |
| Objective | Defeat opponents, score the highest points | Finish first, avoid traps | Ski as far as possible, no finish line |
| Offensive weapons | Yes, missiles, guns, shields, traps. | No, only random lucky blocks. | No, only dodging obstacles. |
| Play with real people | Yes, real-time. | Yes, real-time. | No, play alone. |
| Round duration | Approximately 4 minutes. | Short, depending on track length. | Unlimited, play until collision. |
| Random elements | Weapons in boxes | Lucky blocks (can be advantageous or disadvantageous) | Terrain randomly generated each turn. |
| Suitable for | People who like direct confrontation and strategy; | People who like humor and surprises; | People who want to relax and break their own records. |
Trying BikeBrainrots.io, I found that the focus is on managing speed through narrow platforms and large gaps. Collisions with other players do occur, but... It's more about chance than deliberate action. There are no guns or missiles to shoot at anyone; its fun comes from silly ragdoll physics and random lucky blocks rather than real strategy.
Slope Rider, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. It's an endless sledding game for one person, the sled automatically lunges forward, your only task is to dodge obstacles, there's no multiplayer mode. Playing Slope Rider is like relaxing and breaking personal records, while GoKarts.io always has real people lurking somewhere on the map.
If I had to choose one sentence to summarize, I think this: if you want the feeling of direct confrontation, the ability to attack and also be attacked at any time, GoKarts.io is still the most "intense" of these three games.
Not really. It’s not about getting to the finish line, but rather the combat in the arena. Scoring points for bringing down opponents and holding a position.
Don't rush into a crowded location, watch the other karts around you and only accelerate when you know you have the advantage. It also offers you more time to react by giving you a safe distance.
That depends on the circumstances. If you're in a good position, avoiding a fight helps protect your lead. If you see an opponent has just collided or lost control, that's when you should act.
Item crates often attract many people at once. Rushing in without observing beforehand makes it easy to find an opponent already waiting there.
They are completely different. BikeBrainrots.io is just about getting past the obstacles and doesn't have any direct offensive weaponry. In contrast, GoKarts.io is actual battle with missiles, guns and traps directly aimed at other players.
Nope. Slope Rider is single player, you don’t play against anybody else except your record. GoKarts.io is a real-time arena with genuine other players.
The most critical is to control direction. Learn to speed up, change direction and deal with collisions before you even dream about employing weaponry and reading the scenario.
After a few rounds it will all make sense to you, but playing until you know the map and know when to dodge and when to shoot will make GoKarts.io worth coming back to time and time again.
