Each race is a challenge. You will have to race against ambitious AI racers which are always chasing and trying to overtake you. Not only do you get famous by winning, but you also get good incentives to make your "racing machine" better.
Use earned credits to upgrade your car in three primary areas: Acceleration, Handling and Top Speed. The option is yours to make. Do you want to invest in acceleration, to get you round slow turns quicker, or do you want to deal with upgrades to make difficult tracks a breeze?
The AI players in the game are no pushovers. They are made to screw up, but also to be strong enough to take advantage of all your weak points. A tremendous feeling of victory accompanies every successful overtaking.
There is no DRS in the game. This means you cannot quickly close in and overtake opponents on straight routes using your wing. Every pass is calculated to the last detail, taking into account braking, cornering angle and departure point.
To make up for this, Super Formula has a “temporary acceleration” technique known as the Overtake technique (OTS). This isn’t your standard “nitro” button. It gives a big power increase for a limited time (usually 200 seconds for the whole race according to real competition statistics) but it is meant to help you get past the “aerodynamic barrier” (dirty air) when following the car in front, not to pull away on the straight.
It’s an art to master OTS. When do you press the button? To speed up coming out of a corner? Or to pass a rival at the end of the straight? If you utilise it defensively you might miss an opportunity to attack later. A significant tactical element is managing your OTS "budget" throughout the race.
Enjoy Super Formula 1 Racing and beat difficult Formula 1 tracks.
