The other day I had some free time and opened my browser, looking for any racing game to kill the boredom. No install, no sign-up, it just ran. I ended up glued to Grand Extreme Racing for the whole afternoon. So here are a few lines for anyone looking for a light, smooth racing game that still feels great to play.
It’s a free racing game by RHM Interactive, built with Unity and released in January 2023. You play straight in your browser, with no download needed. The game has ten maps, five cars and five drivers to choose from. The main mode is a fairly long championship journey where you race for the world title. There are also challenge races and a Garage for upgrading your car.
What surprised me was the graphics. According to a review on Drifted, the game has very good grip and visuals well above the usual browser game standard. When I switched the quality to High in Settings, the difference was obvious.
The cars hold the road well, and corners don’t have the unrealistic sliding you see in many web games. The AI opponents aren’t gentle either. In one race I was tailing a rival when he squeezed me out at a tight corner. Annoying, but addictive.
Prize money after each race is fairly generous. After just a few races I had enough to upgrade my car, so newcomers don’t have to grind too hard.

| Action | Player 1 | Player 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Move | Arrow keys | W, A, S, D |
| NOS (Boost) | M | Left Shift |
| Reset Car Position | O | R |
| Look Back | P | T |
| Change Camera | K | C |
If you play solo, you can use either the arrow keys or WASD. NOS is Left Shift or Right Shift, reset is R, look back is T, and camera is C.
I invited a friend to sit at the same computer with a split screen. To be clear, the game has no online multiplayer, only shared-screen play. That’s exactly why it’s fun, since you hear the trash talk right next to you when you lose. We even bet a bubble tea on every race.
Yes, you can play for free right in your browser.
No. Just open the page and play.
No. The game only has single-player and two-player on one machine.
Yes, you upgrade it with the prize money from races.
If you want a racing game that loads fast, feels great and lets you mess around with friends, I think Grand Extreme Racing is worth a try. Play a few races and you’ll see why I stayed glued to it all afternoon.
