I like sports games but I hate installing things. So when I found Turball.io, a car soccer game you play straight on the web, I opened a tab and was in a match within seconds. No download, nothing extra to install.
In short, it’s soccer, but the players are rocket-powered cars. You drive into the ball to knock it into the opponent’s net while keeping your own goal safe. It sounds simple, but once boosting, jumping and flying through the air come into play, the game gets real depth.

I lost badly in my first match. I kept charging straight at the ball without thinking about positioning, and my teammates paid for it. After a few games I realized that reaching the ball first matters less than being in the right place. Sometimes falling back to block a shot is worth more than a pointless rush forward.
| Key | Function |
|---|---|
| WASD | Drive |
| Mouse | Boost and jump |
| Shift | Powerslide |
| WASD + Shift | Air roll |
| Space | Toggle ball camera |
| Tab | Open the scoreboard |
| Esc | Open the menu |
| Backspace | Reset |
| 1 to 4 | Use training actions |
| F11 | Toggle fullscreen |
I recommend turning on the ball camera with Space from the very start. Keeping your eyes on the ball helped me predict where it would go far better.
| Mode | What to Expect |
|---|---|
| Casual and Competitive | Relaxed play or serious ranked climbing |
| 1v1 to 4v4 | From duels to full team coordination |
| Hoops | Basketball-style scoring |
| Snow Day | Play with a puck instead of a ball |
| Rumble | Special powerups |
I usually pick 1v1 when I want to sharpen my reflexes and 3v3 when I’m playing with friends. Rumble is for the days when you just want a good laugh.
This is a part I really enjoy. You can change decals, paint finishes, wheels, boost effects and even goal explosions. Daily missions, weekly challenges and the Turball Pass unlock more items, so there’s always a reason to open the game each day.
No. It’s an online game, and you play directly in your web browser.
Go to Free Play to get used to the controls, then try AI opponents, and only then move on to Casual.
Yes. You can play 1v1, train, or face AI without needing a team.
Yes. Try Hoops, Snow Day or Rumble.
Turball.io needs no powerful hardware and no loading wait. You just open the site, pick a mode and charge at the ball. If you’re after a fast, fun sports game with plenty of room to improve, I think it’s worth a few matches.
